Given that “electronic messages can never replace physical meetings”, can we call the Internet a cool medium? On the contrary, as André-Yves Portnoff demonstrates here, it has become an omnipresent and effective medium for bringing marriage partners together. But the deuce of it is that, through sites like Facebook, the Internet turns out also to be a formidable instrument for spying on people’s lives and a tool both for making couples and for breaking them up.
