The Future of the Internet according to Research by the Pew Institute in the United States

Cet article fait partie de la revue Futuribles n° 312, oct. 2005

For five years now the Pew Institute has been monitoring closely the impact of information technologies, and in particular the Internet, on how Americans live. At the end of 2004, the Institute conducted a vast Delphi inquiry in which experts were asked what they thought about the future of the Internet and its effect on people’s lives (institutions, use of technology, social life, etc.).
Gérard Blanc summarizes and comments on the main conclusions of this inquiry, which was published in 2005. As he emphasizes, the Internet will continue to influence the way we live more and more, but a major revolution in this area is unlikely before 2015, according to the experts.
